PHNOM PENH: Phnom Penh Capital Administration is taking a move to reopen KTVs, karaoke bars and other entertainment. Phnom Penh Governor Khuong Sreng is now preparing a proposal to Covid-19 Commission Committee to consider reopening these establishments amid the country’s full reopening status as announced by Prime Minister Hun Sen on Monday starting the 1st of November.

Governor Sreng has confirmed to EAC News the progress. He says he is doing his best to help on the affected businesses but at the same time ensuring the safety of the people against Covid-19.

He says, “We don’t want to shut down as long as there is no infection. We are now preparing to ask the Executive Committee for an analysis meeting to determine this issue. After November 11, there will be changes on this issue. I can’t decide whether open or not, it's up to Committee for Combating Covid-19 to discuss this issue and evaluate it properly, so we can open this, because the discotheque karaoke business is an entertainment place, but it is risky and easy to infect. That is why we have to be careful about that”

High Risk businesses in the capital have been closed for eight months now since the February 20 Community Transmission outbreak.
